I've got about three clients, who all want blogs / comments etc... and I'm looking to use WordPress as it seems like it has loads of options and you can put it on who evers server etc...
So... my two questions are
1) Are the themes easy to create, there seem to be loads to choose from, but none I like, and obviously I want them to look like my clients brand etc.
2) Has anyone any good experience of any books on the subject, as I want to read up on it a little, as you often miss some stuff when studying online.

Regarding the styles. You can buy the option to edit the css yourself. Cheap and worth the investment
- I think he refers to http://wordpress.org… and you speak of http://wordpress.com… ?kalkal

I mean the one that you install on your own server... so you can pretty much do what you want to it.

Not Great, but it does give you a good bit of insight... also what kalkal said, trial and error. It also helps building off of a 'blank' site, something like:

I haven't read any books on it but I'd be interested in hearing some suggestions as well.

im in the same boat and ive started reading a book from Packt Publishing, its helped a little so far, but as kalkal said when you reach a point it becomes a case of trail and error

Cool, thank you very much. I often like to look at a book about it as it just gives you a bit of space from your machine for a while.

This is great to use as a base. It's stripped out all the clutter and styles and you just build from pretty much the bare minimum.

My way has been to install some free themes with desired functionality and then try to dissect it and learn by editing and changing the theme.

My way has been to install a free theme and change the copyright/design tag with mine.
