do you think cops are generally assholes or do they just become that way when put in a position of power? like the Stanford Prison Experiment.
- I'm sure they get jaded just like the rest of us.Complexfruit
- yeah, collectively, we're a bunch of assholes here.Point5
- to want to put yourself in the position to police others in the first place... you got issuesacescence
- definitly a psychological aspect and a cop culture that causes a lot of crapKwesiJ
- thats bollocks ascence utter bollocks, you are being obtuse.chossy
- no its a reality, the entire psychology of power and initmidation is encouraged and bred in the military and policeKwesiJ
- the results of things like the stanford prison experiment are actually used to various degreesKwesiJ

the lesson here is cooperate with the police because they are could be inept dipshits and you could get dead

Looks very accidental. But then, not exactly the situation where you draw in the first place.
Shame for both the familiy of the boy and the cop, his life is basically over. And the cop hating has never helped anybody.

I couldn't be a cop because of poor anger management
I would taser and kill everyone I see
- designbot0
I have had many run-ins with jackass cops. I think alot of them really are on a power trip. I don't trust most of them, they are just human beings. But I wouldn't stereotype them as say they are all bad.

Think about it, they have to take so much shit daily, the cops I mean.
They see only the fucked up parts of society, they see that the system doesn´t work (penal, social security, education andsoforth), and can´t do shit about it. Just cleaning up the mess behind. There can´t be many jobs that are more frustrating than being a cop.

Yes. It's called "control through intimidation"Though the laws attempt whisper "innocent until proven guilty" we've got judge, jury and executioner running around here with badges on daily. The only exception here is this one got captured on a shitload of cameras.
- its a good exception.. glad this was caught on so many angles. interesting to see what happens.applepirate

What ever happened to a good old fashion ass kicking? Why do they need tasers?
- chossy0
Indeed mcLeod this is what I cannot understand and no amount of people saying otherwise will change my mind.
A cop pulls you over and they want to handcuff you why the fuck would you fight the cop? you are fucking nuts to fight utterly nuts. Now the cop is to blame because he pulled the trigger, but he would not have pulled the trigger if the arsehole didn't struggle simple as that.
Cops was insane to pull the trigger but cop would not have even thought about it had he not been fighting with the guy in the first place.
- none of this answers why he pulled the gun in the first place. that's his biggest problem in procedure there.Point5
- don't pull a gun and nobody gets shot.Point5
- Don't fight the cops and nobody pulls a gun...errrr...taser.404NotFound

i have no pity for the police in that situation...they were subdued and under arrest why the fuck did he even try and taze him? learn how to handle the job and take the consequences of your position or stay home.
- arthur0
why taze a guy in restraints, doesn't look like he's resisting, with cops all around? cops are such pussies.
- epikore0
Maybe cops may come off to be assholes, but I think for what they do everyday they have to be that way. How would you feel if you have to go into a bar and face a drunken 6-5" muscle guy threatening to slice every bit of you? My friend is a cop, and he has to deal with this shit. I could never be a cop, but it would be too stressful. Cops will give you respect if you respect them for the most part.
- flavorful0
Why the fuck did the people who saw this happen not riot and take that cop out?!
- the cops had guns thats whychossy
- and apparently they were ready to use themarthur
- People act differently in crowds, and sometimes don't act accordingly.Complexfruit
- Gun or no gun, in a society you cannot stand there video recording when shit like that hits the fan.flavorful
- You walk rite up to the situation and do your best to handle it, you may get fucked up, but it will show the rest of the people what they should do.flavorful
- what they should do. That is sad.flavorful

i instantly came to think of that classic photo where a south Vietnamese officer executes a vc

I've known so many cops and for the most part they're good people; but I've seen personal friends change into a different fucking person when that badge goes on. My whole teenage life I was fucked with by cops, and I was one of the most law respecting kids in my school. Look, I know it's a shitty job, but just because you have a life/death confrontation with someone on a given day doesn't mean you treat everyone else with that same aggressive Johnny-Law attitude. I'm sure almost everyone here has had run-ins with the law... some good, some bad. All bias aside, we know, and cops know the best way to handle situations... this video not being an example of the right way.
- Sounds like you've been fucked by cops a lotepikore
- never beyond just getting harrassed weekly. no jail time for me (because I was always clean)Point5
- but that harassment shit drives you crazy after 2 years, you know?Point5
- Yeah, I see what you meanepikore
- I believe they're trained to always appear to be the one in control. Hence, aggressive attitude...IRNlun6

that guy is fucked. That's another reason cops shouldn't be tazer happy.
- instrmntl0
from the uncut footy, it looked as if the drunken crowd was close to turning on the cops. in fruitvale in oakland at230, this would be bad. i don't think he should have shot the guy, but i can see why he was getting nervous.
- ...please.KwesiJ
- 20-30 drunk people at bart, some probably have weapons. 4 cops? you aren't too familiar with oakland and it's homicide rate then.instrmntl
- situation was under control period people were hiding on the subway as the rest were under complete arrestKwesiJ
- did you watch the entire uncut footage? the crowd was yelling at them, and people kept getting in the cops faces.instrmntl
- Don't get me wrong, I don't think eh should have shot him, but on multiple occasions, I've personally seen packs of 15-40 kids beat the shit out of people in Oakland for no reason. No fun.instrmntl
- beat the shit out of people for no reason. No fun.instrmntl
- well i just watched it again and people were yelling when they started hitting him and kneeling on him, seemed pretty tame. one guy was sort of up in the police's face in the backgroundKwesiJ
- ...tame. one guy was talking to the pollice in the background.KwesiJ
- http://www.youtube.c…instrmntl
- no biggie, people are yelling and poking their nose around but the cops are in controlKwesiJ
- listen to the interview after, they were listening to the policeKwesiJ
- talk to me after you've been in Fruitvale after 2aminstrmntl
- he was nervous? afraid of the crowd? didn't pull the gun on the crowd now did he, instead he decided to shoot the guy, on the ground with his back to you. yeah that's justified force.t_rock
- jgilmore0
Why is it believed ok to reach for a gun, in a situation which is far from requiring that sort of fatal force?
- Point50
intimidation. that's what this is an example of. these guys were suspected of fighting... not armed robbery, not doing drive-bys. Now, I would never expect a cop to approach a possible violent situation (especially in the Bay Area, that place is nuts) assuming that nobody had any weapons. But shooting an unarmed person in the back while they're restrained is flat out fucking wrong.
