I have a Canon 20D with a Canon 28-135 & 100-300 lenses but am now looking for a wide angle lens more suitable for landscape (and indoor) photos etc. I have a budge of approx £400 but am totally confused with the ammount of choice out there. At the moment I am thinking of:
Tokina AF 12-24 f/4 AT-X Pro (around £345 and at the moment my top choice)
Canon EF-S 10-22 f/3.5-4.5 USM (around £499 so potentially to expensive)
Sigma 10-20 f/4.0-5.6 EX IF HSM ASP DC (around £328 so in budget)
Sigma 12-24 f/4.5-5.6 EX IF HSM ASP DG (around £459 so slightly over budget)
Tamron 10-24 f/3.5-4.5 Di II (around £369 so also in budget)
Basically my question is which is the best of these lenses and does anyone here have any of these and already had to make this decision? Any help and advice would be much appreciated. Also if there are any other choices other than what I have listed please let me know :)

i've used the tokina, and found it to be great....not much distortion on the edges to correct. unfortunately, i have not used any of the others on your list to compare.....good luck!

You might want to check http://www.photozone.de/canon-eo… reviews

I have the Tokina (Nikon mount). I use it on a D300.
I have found it to be so so. The build quality is good, but it's not as sharp as I would like, and it has CA issues. It also vignettes badly with a filter on it.
Obviously cheaper than the comparable Nikon for me, but depending on what you use it for, it may or may not be worth getting the comparable Canon.

I use the Sigma 10-20 on a Nikon and love it.
I've found searching Flickr for photos taken with the lens I'm wanting to be helpful. Example, here is group with photos taken with the Sigma: http://www.flickr.com/groups/sig…
There is a group for just about every lens out there.
- Some nice shots in there, thanks for the link Skellyfodcj

Those lenses are uber wide. I use a Nikon and have a 12-24 f4. It's great for outdoors shots but I nearly always end up using it as 24mm and not 12. A 10mm lens is going to be silly wide so may not be useful for indoors shots. If I were you I'd probably go for the 12-24 Tokina but I'm not overly keen on third party lenses, and the Canon lens is faster at f.3.5. Defo between the Tokina and Canon.

I have used a canon 10-22 and its pretty decent. It would be number one on my list if I can a 20D.
I have found sigma's quality control lacking, I have had to return lenses a few times to get one that focuses correctly. Having said that their 50mm f1.4 is brilliant if you get a good one.

I've borrowed the sigma 10-20 for a while and it takes great photos. Naturally, a little fisheye-ish towards the edges, and a slight bit of vignetting, which the canon one probably won't have.
the canon is definitely the better lens, but unless you're making money from these pics and/or using them for print, the sigma should do the trick.

i have the sigma 10-20.. its a nice lens, but the f/4.0 does suck a bit.
but for the price i have never had any problems.

After reading a few other reviews on other site looks like the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 AT-X may be the best wide angle in my budget. Here is a great comparison chart and image:

I don't think you could go wrong with any of these.
I have the Sigma 10-20 and love it (on a Canon 400d).
Most reviews I read before buying it had the Canon lens ahead in quailty, but only just. The Sigma always got the magazines recommended lens award because it was about £100 cheaper.
I challenge anyone to be able to tell what make of lens was used on any wide-angle photo. Can't be done.
