The old truck has finally busted beyond repair (I'm not going to spend $2100 on a new transmission for a car worth a $1000)
ANYWAYS, I'm looking at new cards/used cars -- any suggestions? My budget is $15k, needs to have good gas mileage.
Some suggestions so far: Honda Fit, Toyota Yaris, Nissan Versa, one of them Scions

- These aren't that great a car. If you want smaller, affordable and efficient look into Scion.waterhouse
- I saw the program where they did that crash test. They claimed the frame remained intact but the occupants would not be able to withstand the impact.IRNlun6

- I was amazed to see they really don't get that incredible of mileage.DrBombay

I usually swear by used cars, however I've got a new Scion XD, had a similar budget as yours. Essentially a Toyota corolla S engine in a better frame. Small car, but still lots of room. Got an 8 foot wood farm table in the back of it (sticking out about 1.5 feet) with the seats down. Great gas mileage, etc. Good all around - very happy 10k miles in.

scion or a fit. I was looking at a fit. There's quite an aftermarket/upgrade community out there if that's your sorta thing. My 01 civic runs great, so I decided against trading it in on a new one. I'm gonna get a 944 turbo as a little toy

Your own suggestions are the best I've seen so far in this thread. Test drive them and report any findings back.

with your requirements look @ used toyota corollas. you can score a used one in great shape for around $8k. great on gas, and runs really reliable.

it would be a good idea to get a few more credit cards and max them out as much as you can. paying is for pussies. and for later. when you can blame in on the bank.
go buy that nice shiny car. it will surely add to your happiness.

I had a Jazz (think that's what you call a Honda Fit?). It was a great little car. Real tardis like. Aparently it was going to be called the Honda Fitta in Europe until somebody pointed out that was Swedish or Finnish for vagina. Which would have been especially unfortunate with the slogan 'small on the outside, big on the inside.'
Clever small car though, whatever it's called.
