Wasn't the Zavvi brand a last-mile rescue attempt for a failing model anyway? I thought the downfall of this kind of company was more to do with online sales than anything else?
Seems to me like the BBC article (like so many others at the moment) are over-representing the Crunch thing. The whole Whittards debacle too - that's another long-failing brand.

yeah the brand was a bad re-hash... think branson is pulling out of a lot of stuff like the radio station (he took the name back)
i was wokring in the same building as Zavvi during the summer... always seemed quiet there, and everyday i thought... god that ident is bad...
virgin had some history to it, and a musical start... but zavvi... just made it feel like it should be a start up web company... almost like starting from scratch...
The Beeb are relishing in the 'downturn', thy've even branded it... and that economics man they have is starting to wear thin to be honest.
oh and mikeJ... what does 2009 hold for you under that bridge

Sad news we do a lot of press ads with Zavvi for various film releases.
Not good news for us, but hey ho its christmas

First time I clapped eyes on a Zavvi... which was this summer... I immediately saw a retail operation gunning for oblivion.
Lets hope music shops go back to being music shops after all this. Small independent shops, not 'megastores'. It was Branson who gave us the concept in the first place.

Is Mike J the most boring QBNer to date?
- He's not 'the most anything' - don't give him that satisfaction.Nairn
