The packaging is the enticement for the NEXT McDonalds, not the one you have in your hand.

for what they are probably trying to achieve, that is look more handmade, earthy, less processed, it's a step in the right direction.

It clearly doesnt state: consumption of product will make you an unhealthy fat bastard on the packaging.

I quite agree with CR, although I find useful to use all this new strategy (txt + imagery) if I consider Mc's view and objectives.
It still feels quite funny that one of the least healthy food chains of the world, responsible for huge dramatic changes brought to our planet not to mention how dangerous and unhealthy having their food can be, can still try using such a language that seems to be more adapt to describe an organic (or supposed to) food chain like Pret (of which Mac used to own 33% already a few years ago) or M&S.
About the design, what to say.... quite American mid 90's, nothing new under the sun, plus the use of fake old type to keep selling the idea of an American grocery or the likes of it.
Stull better than the trashy old packs, but definitively deceptive. Designers should consider ethics from time to time.

Can't polish a turd springs to mind...
McDonalds has many problems at the moment, packaging is the least of their worries.

I like the bag, would've been nice to see them use brown kraft for all the packaging though, seems a bit inconsistent...

I just recently learned that Portland, Oregon was one of the main reasons McDonalds stopped using styrofoam claim shells.
The city banned them from using it in the early 90's for environmental concerns so the company took the idea world wide.
Portland is also trying to ban using plastic bags at grocery stores. I hope this idea catches on too.- Viva Portland, then.benfal99
- yep. plastic bags sucks.akrokdesign

*bump* in case you haven't seen it. :-)
