Hi,
got a problem with my old PowerBook.
A year ago the display died, so I took a MacBook Pro and used the broken one with an external display...
Everithing was allright since I had to install the Operative System on the PowerBook.
While installing the PowerBook can't see any external monitor as a duplicate so I just see an empty portion of the desktop...
Does any of you know what do?
(Obviously repairing the display is way too expansive: 800 €); )

It can't be that expensive, a powerbook isn't worth half of this money.
Check out this thread, maybe you'll find a cheap LCD source:

Here's a tip: Install the system on a different PB, then swap the drives across. It has to be another Power PC machine with Leopard, but with Tiger, chances are this will work with an Intel machine too (someone correct me).

you could also install the system on an external harddrive, then connect the external harddrive to your powerbook with an external monitor connected, boot fron the external device, then use carbon copy cloner to copy the complete system from the external device to your powerbook, boot the powerbook again. done. :-)
