Looks interesting, considering Keanu Reeves stars in it.

Enough about my high school boyfriend.

Looks good. Though i'd be funny if he played the role more like Bill from Bill & Ted's Excellent Advneture rather than like Neo from The Matrix (which it seems like he is)

klaatu verada...
...ahh, necktie?
- airey0
apparently it's Barada, not Verada. i feel like the last 34 years have been a sham.

Klaatu = Keanu
- even though the term comes from a movie made before his birth?airey

gort concept art. looks like they were going to rip the latest cylons before someone whooped arse and made sense. the original was awesome. unless it reached stairs.

What does Keanu Reeves have on Studio execs to keep getting these roles? Especially roles that should have stronger actors. I just can't see Reeves doing the Klaatu character justice.
The trailer looks like Hollywood will (once again) sacrifice a good story to bombard the screen with CGI eye candy.

---------------BUMP...
Went to see this over the weekend....overall it is a pretty good movie. They took certain liberties with the original story, some were good, others deviated too much from the original film imo. The special effects were good, and I like how they didn't over-do them.
If you are a fan of the original this is definitely worth seeing, though don't go expecting it to be an epic film. I find great irony in the propaganda attached to this film....since when you watch the original (though a great film) it is complete propaganda and a push for the United Nations. This film deals with a more current issues of the environment, and the undertones of "global warming" and "saving our planet from mankinds destruction" are blatantly obvious. Somebody with a "green" agenda obviously had some influence on this film.
Keanu once again plays his "one role" and he has eerily similarities to a Christ-like figure. He must have a real fascination with playing this type of character over and over.
It ends somewhat abruptly, and there are few things that were not explained very well, but overall a good film worth seeing to anyone into sci-fi films.
- what's with the air quotes around 'green"?TheBlueOne
- well I am using that word in the way that others commonly use it I guess, not really in the true definition of the word.designbot
- Words have true definitions?
Plato would be proud.Nairn - Reeves would suck in most other roles. Only two roles he can play are this one and the cop.Jaline

it was good, gort was poo, bad render and not scary at all.

saw this yesterday.
absolute fucking shite and i nearly walked out.
cliche after laboured cliche, but the cgi was decent. well, passable anyway.
- are you normally a sci-fi fan? It definitely wasn't "fucking shite" though if your not into this genre you might think so.designbot
- surely you weren't expecting anything else tho?********

I hope it's good. There have been too many shit hollywood sci fi flicks made as of late

Heard it was bad.

Reeves got ripped for his acting, but he actually did a good job I thought. Taken in it's context and in the context of the original film. His acting "stiff" is part of the character. I am not sure what people were expecting from a highly advanced alien from another planet....maybe they wanted small talk out of him or something? That wouldn't have worked in this film.
