I moved overseas from Canada... Took me about a year of sending my work around, both physically and digitally, before I found a company who was interested...
I have no regrets but constantly dealing with work permits, visas and in my case having to be tied to a company, can be a bit trying..

I have no idea what it's like as a non-native working in Canada, but in many cases [in Europe] once you're over the age of 31 it becomes exponentially more expensive for a company to hire/sponsor you. In order for me to get a work permit I must make a minimum of €52k.. This becomes quite limiting in the sense of what size of studio would actually deal with this, any of the good small shops can't be arsed...

i had a 60 month work permit, which was a pain in the hoop to get and i also got deported from the uk in the process. the immigration officials are only just now starting to let me back into the country every time i leave without a body cavity search. then i got hitched, which solved a few problems...

I've moved from the US to the UK. Took a lot of planning, friends and a shitload of money.
If you're a UK citizen, you'll need to apply for an Aussie work visa. Pretty straightforward but there's a fee. Canada is a little trickier.
