I hope this will not backlash too hard on the indian muslims. I remember they killed thousands of muslims in revenge for a train fire accident a couple of years ago, just because of early rumours that it was set by islamists.

I am doing fine, janne.
But the situation here in Mumbai is quite fucked up. They have hostages in 3 different locations, and gun battles is still going on. There is no confirmation on the number of hostages... they have just rescued a number of hostages from the Taj Hotel. will update later.Let's hope this ends soon...

I am in Bandra, which is far away from Colaba, where the attack is happening. More updates... There are 3 operations happening. One at the Taj hotel, another at The Oberoi hotel and the third is in a residential building, which is near the Taj hotel. At the Taj, they have manage dot rescue a few hostages, but the hotel is also on fire and firefighters are trying to contain that as well and to rescue the remaining hostages and get the terrorists who are holed in.
At the Oberoi hotel, there are fresh reports of hand grenades being used and the terrorists are firing out on the streets. still very unclear as to what exactly is happening at the Oberoi.
The third place is a jewish residential colony, these guys have taken a few jewish families hostage. That all i know for now...

Conservative North West MEP Sajjad Karim, speaking by mobile phone from a barricaded basement room in the Taj Mahal Palace hotel, said he and others had fled from machine-gun fire.
He said: "I was in the lobby of the hotel when gunmen came in and people started running. There were about 25 or 30 of us.
"Some of us split one way and some another. A gunman just stood there spraying bullets around, right next to me. I managed to turn away and I ran into the hotel kitchen and then we were shunted into a restaurant in the basement."

I gotta defend Janne76 here, although lord knows he does spout some shit from time to time. Although the 2006 bomb attacks were devestating and terrible, this current attack has far more in common in terms of operational scale and scope and objectives inline with broaderinternational terrorism than that earlier attack did.
This time, the whole world is watching and is there along with India. In that sense it is quite like a 9-11 style event, which is sadly, probably what the perpetrators were aiming for.
- you as well?

People in the Twitter thread are asking what Twitter is for. Here's the answer (but more relevant here).

I hope whoever that did this does not escape justice. Intelligence services dont know who it is yet, even if they are from Punjab. I think its too soon to jump to conclusions about them being Muslims or that religion has anything to do with it. It is surprisingly well executed and very destructive. I dont think Pakistani intelligence would do something so stupid, they are battling terrorists in their own country - why open up another front?
In fact all of this terrorism and much of what happens across the world is NOT because of religion but of revenge, retaliation or occupation. People misuse religion to gain support for their twisted vendetta.
In Islam, the Quran clearly says that to kill a single person is as if one has kiled a whole nation. And in combat or battles, innocent people/non-combatants, trees/crops, religious people and places are not to be harmed - and is a major sin. Also suicide is forbidden, so there is no room for 'terror' in this particular religion.

argh...really sad :(

Oh, hi, religion of peace.

i hate to say, but after all spent on airport security and what not, I seen this coming and i said it before, you don't need a plane/train/bridge/building to kill a lot of people at once. it can be fucked up world :(

Wait... so it's not a "real" terrorist attack unless you have 24/7 media coverage?
These deaths are somehow better, greater quality deaths?
- // definitlyjanne76
- moth, you are mixing up 2 things here, one is a fact: i wasn't informed well, two is opinion: because i wasn'tjanne76
- informed well it doesn't mean i value one life more over the other.. really, calm down moth.janne76
- Didn't say that at all moth...I was merely pointing out scale, scope and objectivesTheBlueOne

Hey Moth, your misunderstanding Jannes comments, I think he was simple commenting that in terms of media coverage, this is being reported along the same scales as NY/London/Bali etc. this doesnt mean these deaths are any more worthy or pertinent than the recent Baghdad/Afghanistan bombings because of the intended ‘Western’ targets. Get down off your high-horses, no-one has said anything offensive, sheesh!
