Am wondering if I need to start looking at flex again. Has anyone moved away from fash and now using flex more?
I'm ok with actionscript, but am not sure if flex is really a tool for programmers.

"Adobe Flex is a collection of technologies released by Adobe Systems for the development and deployment of cross platform rich Internet applications"
"Flash has become a popular method for adding animation and interactivity to web pages; Flash is commonly used to create animation, advertisements, and various web page components, to integrate video into web pages, and more recently, to develop rich Internet applications."

johnny if you use eclipse or similar then flex is much, much better IDE for AS dev than the Flash IDE and of course you can use mmxml easily within the tool.
if your looking for an AS IDE Id recommend flashDevelop

i was thinking about having a go with it... been messing about with papervision and as3 for the first time, and a lot of the tutorials are done within flex...
i'll probably get bored of papervision soon and not bother though. as3 is a pain in the arse and none of my clients give a fuck what version of as their sites are in.

RE: mikotondria3, drawing tools & library have been more or less
replaced with the UI design view Flex Project Explorer."I'm ok with actionscript, but am not sure if flex is really a tool for programmers." - Pardon? I didn't quite get that.
Flex is like flash but without the distracting crap that you don't (or at least shouldn't) use to develop interactive web applications. It also encourages you to take an MVC(ish) approach to development which will really help you write cleaner code and improve your application design. FB3 is alot nicer to use than 1&2 (which were useless imo) so disregard any previous experience of those two.
- AS - I can do it but I'm more designer than dev so if this is for a dev only - I'm outjohnnnnyh

Use both. Flex for AS development + Flash for design. This is especially great if you have a multiple monitor setup.
That being said - I compile my swfs in Flash. Flex seems to add unnecessary baggage to the swf.

Take a look at www.gotoandlearn.com - lots of nice introductions to flash / flex... but I highly recommend you watch the Flex Builder 3 video demo first - lots more to FB3's script editor than the basic Flash actionscript panel...

I had me a lil Flash/Flex orgasm after watching that intro... hopefully that may relieve some of your apprehension...
