Which screens would you recommend for general graphic design (web and print), that falls into the £400-£600 bracket.
I have two Dell 2408's and they have too many problems even after calibration so I am returning them. Color is important, but no need for high-end screens like Eizo.
The Apple 23's are an option, but should I wait till Apple come out with a new Cinema Display range?
What other good alternatives are there?

the Apple LED's are coming out this month.
Samsung have had good responses and Lacie's are very good but probably on the £££ side
- Arent the LEDs made for MacBook's or is that the new range from Apple?MakeBelieve
- Unless you enjoy massive burn-in and dead pixels, don't buy Apple monitors.dMullins

- Yes, I know of these, but I thought they were made exlusively for the macbooks?MakeBelieve
- You can use a DVI to Display port adapterribit
- be careful they are glossy only right now, so if you are going to use them for work, I will advise get the previous modelMeeklo

I think you need NEC's or the HP Dreamcolor. However those are way out of that price range :)

FORMAC innit!

I love formac displays, but they havent updated their design in years - you can't put two formacs together edge to edge like an Apple or Dell. Plus I cant seem to find any wide ratio or 24" Formacs...?

a lot of them are the same on the inside, ie, these all use the same panel as the 23" apple:
Apple M9178 (Widescreen) has a 23 inch 16 ms S-IPS (LG.Philips LM230W02) panel.
BenQ FP231W (widescreen) has a 23 inch 16 ms S-IPS (LG.Philips LM230W02) panel.
HP L2335 (Widescreen) has a 23 inch 16 ms S-IPS (LG.Philips LM230W02) panel.
LG L2300B (widescreen) has a 23 inch 16 ms S-IPS (LG.Philips LM230W02) panel.
LG L2300C (widescreen) has a 23 inch 16 ms S-IPS (LG.Philips LM230W02) panel.
Philips 230W5BS (Widescreen) has a 23 inch 16 ms S-IPS (LG.Philips LM230W02) panel.
Sony SDM-P234 (Widescreen) has a 23 inch 16 ms S-IPS (LG.Philips LM230W02) panel.
Sony SDM-P234B (Widescreen) has a 23 inch 16 ms S-IPS (LG.Philips LM230W02) panel.

too bad you had problem with the dell's. i used them before and thought they where good. eq. to apple.
what i do not like on the apple one's. first of all. they take up to many ports on your laptop. what fu...its wrong with them. 3 port.
on the new ones it look like there no extra box..the power cable as the older one had.:-)
- or that might been photoshoped. lol.akrokdesign
- 1 port supplies power to laptop, 1 port is video out from laptop to screen, 1 is USB, screen has usb ports on the backjedipunk
- I have the Rev A00 Dell's and they have an annoying red tint.MakeBelieve
- Who knows, I may end up buying them again if Europe has Rev A01's in.MakeBelieve

30" HP might be slightly out of your range — don't know its pricing in the UK, but it's a great monitor. HUGE.
Apples make great [looking] displays but equal or higher quality can be had elsewhere for less.- I'm considering a 30", even Dell's 30 isn't too bad. But I prefer dual screens, so I can organise myself more.MakeBelieve
- I used to think that too but after getting used to the 30" I'm a convert.pylon
- hmm, on XP, I like using apps full screen, but on a 30, thats too big.MakeBelieve
- I'm on a mac, so it's a bit different I guess.pylon

Yes, thats what I got. Returning them on Monday. Dell said they cant guarantee the new revisions, which also seem to have problems.
How big is the difference between an S-PVA panel (Dell) and a S-IPS (ACD for example)?
- acescence0
I have both S-PVA and S-IPS Dells and the S-IPS is definitely better. Not to say that the S-PVA is terrible, I can get pretty predictable results now that I've figured it out, but the color is just better on the IPS.

interesting...what monitors do you have, which is the S-IPS?
