If you can code a bit of flash on top of the design work you should be able to get £350 a day in london.

...move back?

hey, that's really helpful. Thanks

well what do you want? you're asking if it's okay that you ask for more than 35-45 euros for what YOU think you're worth?
in my mind the best answer is to live where the money is. that's why i live 4 hours away from my hometown and family so i can actaully make money in new york.
but what do you want from QBN? the OK to charge more than your area allows.... go for it, but like you said, i doubt you'll get far.

Isn't too bad actually.
I'm not a freelancer but you can easily ask for that amount (which is roughly 30 per hour)
But again. I'm not a freelancer.

Anyway, approach (several) recruiters with that amount and see what they say.
- thanks. I'm emailing some that were recommended to me and they would like a day rate in the email... and I would like to >>flashbender
- avoid putting a completely unrealistic number in there. So maybe I'll just tell them what I made in the US and let them >flashbender
- advise me.
Thanks Fariska, you're a good citizenflashbender - You're very welcome mate.Fariska

No, my question is what is a typical day rate for a sr. level designer in london.
I have found plenty of salary guides but have had no luck finding similar information for day rates. And because taxes work differently here than in the US I don't know how much of a bump to expect regarding contracting vs. employment.

you should be able to get £200-240 day rate in London, it'll be a plus if you can code.
- hey! that's what I wanted to hear. Thanks for the inputflashbender
- so all you wanted was the OK.anxiousarms
- the OK that it was in the ballpark so to speak, yes.flashbender

do you have mates around that you can ask and compare to?
sometimes if you're in an area that isn't tech forward you just have to live with the money that's around.

I'd have thought you'd be able to charge a little more than that if you're any good at what you do.

yeah depending on the agency and your porfolio your looking around £200 - £280.
- agentfour0
as a senior...i'd say more like £220 - £280
I'm not so sure about web design but you're in the ball park for sure.
- mistermik0
more than that - can get £250- £280 in glasgow

£300+ a day

Thanks all for the input. That makes me happy.
That range is what I was thinking, and I just wanted to make sure that it was "normal" and I wouldn't be asking for an unrealistic amount.
