looks like a catapult...

I think the type looks too even in contrast for the mark, maybe a font with more contrast in the strokes would sit more comfortably alongside this?

The logo is remindful of either a lollipop or magnifying glass. Says nothing about music or choir in general.
- kelpie0
you know what it kind of does look like though? A sport tournament logo/mascot. I quite like it though.

I aggree with you Renegade, I did three concepts initially two of which around the choir/music theme and one re-development of a rose, this is the one they (unanimously) decided on. I'm considering going back to them and trying to sway them to the first one, but for whatever reason they seem very happy with this version.

too many letters / the words are all too long to all be set in caps. it is very difficult to read and there is no visual hierarchy. i'd vary the type sizes and placements based on some type of hierarchy. not seeing the y, p, or c in the mark either.

last one but make the whole height of the grey circular shapes match the height of the 3 lines of text. the green will be a "tail"
- WhiteFace0
That's low, come on, don't show it around on here like it's your own idea.
At least it being put to use I suppose, *wipes solitary tear away

Never saw the old one but I like the new mark. Looks like a rose, a 'c' and a 'y'
You need to make the type bigger and change the face.

it looks like a rose?? really?
i only see a tree and the c. it's ok.

The first version you did looks like it was headed in a better direction. this one isn't bad either though. the color needs work - the grey and green are not working. the type needs work too. the font is not working for me - is that arial? you need to track out the title as well - add some letter spacing.

i really liked the first set - show the client this post
- 23kon0
would be nice if it wasnt so constrained to look like a C, Y etc
would look better being a bit more chaotic like the machine rooms logo
and the green woosh should be a bit more dynamicthis could be a really sexy exciting logo
- I agree, Go get a calligraphic brush and start recreating until you get the one you like. and change the colorsvoiceof

I concur that it doesnt have to comprise the letters y p and c, and that moving away from this idea would give you a lot more freedom to explore the musical rose theme - at the moment I do think it has a certain air of musicality about it, but not so much the rose - explore some images of roses and open mouthed singer illustrations and drop the notion that the logotype must contain the letters y p and c - thats redundant if you have the words spelled out next to it in the mark... something that evokes the spirit of a choral singer, upward facing, graceful, majestic lines, organic tense curves, with some simple elements that demonstrate it's a rose.
If you're only illustrating those 2 principles then the final thing will be much more impacting and clear...unless the yorkshire philharmonic choir is more often than not know BY YPC, in the same way that the bbc is, then you're just making a rod for your back trying force the design to do that.. Do more, with a simpler concept.
