I have been looking to buy a couple of macs recently and have varying prices and offers from everywhere.
Where would you buy a new mac* from if you were in the UK?
John Lewis: offer 2 years warranty free and could blag some software or something...
Apple store: I could get a student discount, but perhaps not on 2 macs.
Other outlets: Competitive prices, cut a deal?
????*Not a refurb as the NEW MBP will not be in there.

...or John Lewis.
Bought from both.
Both equally as good.
Avoid PC world and currys and all that shite.

I'm in a similar situation myself so would be curious to hear peoples thoughts.
One thing – do you use Quidco (the cashback service)? Apple now give 6% cashback from their online store. Not sure about other retailers without looking. Could be worth considering?

Dancer, have you tried:

http://www.dabs.com/homepage.asp…- no... will look into them. THanksDancer
- Prices are not good enough for me to buy from here. Plus they do not offer a memory bump dealDancer

Yeah, you got my answers there already. John lewis for the service etc. Or just from the apple store. I get an employee discount through the apple store. I'm thinking of getting the new MBP too. Seems like straight after they come out is the best time to buy before they're obsolete

PC World sold me an imac five years back which was 'new'.
Its was (after looking through the machine) third hand and an ex store demo.
They didnt believe me. Too it back and showed them how when it started up the screensaver was PC World's logo very very big.
Got a refund - went to John Lewis. Excellent.

john lewis for the two year guarantee :D

Yeah I have always bought from John Lewis. Bizarrely Harrods was once the choice place for Apple Mac becuase it was list prices but you had really good Harrods after sales care... but then I think they licensed out the Mac concession to a Mac Reseller after a while who's after sales was less good.

I have a feeling I maybe able to blag some free/discounted software (Office for example) considering the amount of money I intend to spend (I've been watching "don't get done get Dom" on TV).
But if I use a student discount offer you get Applecare for £60. and a discount... the only problem is I need to buy more than one mac.

It maybe have to be JL then.
