I didn't think this style was recent.

Not sure who "you" refers to in the thread title, but funny how it's assumed that whoever "you" is would think that this style is "recent"...
Seems to say a lot about our industry, and "their" general lack of 1. historical knowledge 2. Respect for our pioneers.
RIP Lou, thanks for the inspiration.- Sorry, didn't mean to get all serious on a Sunday...Neuarmy
- haha, I was thinking the same thing but thought I'd let it slide..neue75_bold

"Instead he was accepted at Cooper Union, where tuition was free and art and design courses were plentiful. He graduated in 1939 and remained connected to the school, serving on its board of directors for many years."
must have been nice.

i think the whole point is that we KNOW the style is oldschool and as such kitsch.

how many designers still wear a good suit today?
RIP Mr. Dorfsman.

Damn this is really sad to hear. He was/is definitely one of my favorite art directors of all time. I scored a few copies of his Dorfsman & CBS books when I was in the UK last. They're in my top 5 of design books for certain.
RIP Mr. Dorfsman.
