I've created a flash header/menu which is sitting on the top of a php but is there a way of getting the flash to open the main html text area using a php include etc without the flash having to reload???

so you want flash to be in a new state when the next page loads?

i was thinking of having the flash on the main page and then try and include the main text areas below

im not sure i understand, you have flash at the top and then html underneath it (further down the page)? or you want flash over the top of html?

You want to be able to navigate through the site using your flash-made menu, but without having the page to reload every time. So you want some way for the flash-menu to communicate to the PHP-script and include new content in a container below, without the pages refreshing. This smells of frames and bad chicken soup.
- Either build the entire site in flash, or don't use flash at all on frame elements. Read some jQuery-magic.Lillebo

or use javascript and divs that are shown and hidden.

Pass a variable to the flash navigation on the page that tells it to display that particular 'state'..

Your options are
1) Use framesets
2) populate divs in an dhtml way
3) refresh the page each time and parse a variable to the flash to tell it the state
4) don't have a flash nav
