Do you guys make your clients sign-off on the different phases of project development?
So they aren't making design changes in the final content phase and so on...

I'm starting to see that. Time to up the rate to compensate for this extra paper work.

I have a phase-pistol in case they refuse to sign.

make 'em sign off what you like they'll still kick in the changes anyway. learn the magic words "these will incur authors corrections". saying that, i generally take it in the arse and move on. bills to pay etc.

Yes, always have sign-off at phases that you have mapped billable time to - whether the conceptual stage, iterations or final approval. Having sign-off gives you a clear line in the sand that closes one billable period and thus when additional work is requested it is clear that it is "additional."

use multiple small projects. have clients sign off on the estimates before hand.

I have them sign off every step of the way from conception on up. Its helped with revisions.

yes, but they ignore it and make changes anyway.
- its up to you to enforce that. remind them that revisions = extra $$$sublocked
- and they will promptly remind us that there are plenty of other agencies that would love to work for them...skt
- it's all just a big juggling act...skt
- you write a certain # of revisions in, anything else = extra. otherwise you're setting yourself up to get fucked. just my humble opinion.sublocked
