I went from a senior role earlier this year outside Philadelphia, to a non-senior role in Indianapolis. I have no idea what I should be making. I was underpaid in PA for sure, but here, according to bestplaces.net/col I'm making a little more in comparison. Still underpaid for the experience I have though.
- penn and indy? dude you need to move somewhere niceLlyod

Hard part about starting on your own, getting the clients imo, do all the paperwork...
In an agency you get them served eh.. but whatever, by the time i graduate, design is done by robots.

If those figures are national average then I should be earning less than $40k when you factor in location. It seems very low.

pretty close to the $40k mark as a designer. Will go up after my 180 days.

I do alright in nyc compare to the chart, of course. Yet, I am always feeling poor and need to manage my money very carefully.
i am always thinking of doing some type of side business that's not just freelance and grows over the years. i need to think and work harder.
- NYC is a leech on my bank account, fuck this place.
but i love it, i do.tasty

How can principals make less than 120?
- OSFA0
because they do it for the love of design?
- MarketMaker0
In that case, I only work on Wall Street for the love of money.

According to that thing I am on the high end, lol.
In reality I am on the low end compared to other web designers I know.

Why you think Steve Job gets only $1 in Salary?
- plus his 650 Million in stock optionssilentseven

fuck those charts.
for that matter i can't even read this one.what u make depends on :
where u live
what company
your experience
and how much they need you. Then if u don't like it, you freelance on the side. You know where I'd be if I listened to these charts about salaries and market outlooks?
with a weapon holding up a convenience store. or a cop.
- instead i'm making $$$ with an AAS degree.sherm

One reason I will not be voting for the Dems. I don't think it's a good idea to raise Social Security taxes on me just because I earn more than $97,000, and then tack on a 2-4 per cent surcharge, even though I won't get a higher retirement benefit because of my additional taxes.

i find it odd (or interesting) that just about all positions are on a rise, except for that of an owner/partner/principal which is on a SHARP decline...
