suddenly my external drive won't mount! right in the midst of a computer change too.
it whirs like it's going to work but never shows on either computer. i've restarted many times. i need to test the cable but the cable store was closed. any other suggestions?
should i bang it?

Are you on a Mac? if so make sure that your firelite is disconnected and press "command + shift + g" - enter the text "/volumes" and press enter (or click go). You should see all of the mounted volumes. If you see your firelite drive still mounted (this can happen when it is not unmounted correctly before disconnecting). Delete the alias of the firelite drive (again, make sure your firelite is not connected). Then try plugging in your firelite drive and see if that resolves the issue.

i tried your suggestion, jedi. thank you for that. didn't work tho .. it's not there. :((((
it seems like the cable does work since the drive whirs when i plug it in. recently i maxed it's capacity .. that was the first time i'd done that. perhaps that screwed it up.

Hope you figure it out salisae. It only takes losing your hard drive one time to learn a valuable lesson. Always always always archive important things.

i have everything i really need .. there is a folder on the drive i titled 'everything' and i can't remember what was in it! i think it's just my stupid work from super deluxe which i'm fine to lose. but i can just imagine one day i'll find something vital is missing and at that point i'll cry.

i was left to my own devices since the apple salesman i was working with went to change into his 'ask me everything' shirt. and unfortunately, an external drive connected to a laptop doesn't look good to the other salesmen. they thought i was installing viruses or something cus they freaked.
