Ebay Final Value Fees %

  Being a bit thick here. Could someone explane the me the Final Value Fees ebay are takling about. I have not sold anything on ebay for about 4 year, and I thought it was just a basic fix % of whatever the iterm went for.

  But ebay now seem to have two % for a sale WTF.

  £30.00 - £599.99: 8.75% of the initial £29.99 (£2.62) + 5.25% of the remaining balance of the final selling price

  So if I am right with my math, ebay item sale for £400 pounds. Ebay will take 8.75% out of the first £30, and then another 5.25% from the total item price, which is £400.

  Are they taken the piss.

  Last time I sold something, eBay and PayPal both wanted 3% of the final selling price. I just considered it sales tax (it's 6-something in CT). Was this a new guide you were looking at? That sounds really bad...
