Printer Issue

I have a PDF document generated from a Word file. Its 8.5x11 and I want printed straight to letter size, no bleed or trim.
The printer says it's their policy that all jobs have crop marks regardless. I have never had a problem like this before. I call BS since most office staff wanting letter sized prints don't know what a crop mark is.
What is the best way to do this when it was never created in a layout program. Usually its easier if they do it using their press software, is it not? Why bother when I don't want it to be trimmed anyway.
Obviously, I don't do a lot of print work...

Is it possible your job is getting printed to broadsheet and then cropped down? That would necessitate cropmarks...

Insert it into an InDesign/Quark document and export with crops from there.

(Printers can be dicks when it comes to this stuff).

I certainly have ID, and did attempt to place the PDF, but it would not work.
Its just an economy printed spiral bound booklet containing a large MS word document. Why don't they print on the high end laser rather than on the digital press FFS.
- BTW, its 60 pages. How do I insert a multi page PDF into ID then?ETM

Whilst importing to ID click "Show Import Options" and you'll be able to select the pages, page-range, cropping, and so on for your PDF.

that is insane for an 8.5x11. use a different printer.
