I am trying to rip a DVD to QuickTime format with little/no quality loss. There is no copy protection on the disc. Anyone know a free utility or Mac program that will do this?
Thanks in advance!

I am trying to use Handbrake to convert the disc to AVI or MP4 right now. Thought I could convert it to one of these formats and then use QuickTime Pro to convert it to .mov.
Not sure if that will work though, and it seems there will be a pretty significant loss in the video quality.

Tried converting to AVI and then to Quicktime.
Lost quality and now I have no sound....sweet.

Maybe MPEG Streamclip would work?

That app will work it looks like....but the one feature I need you have to purchase for $20. Gah, figures. My boss isn't around and I'm not dropping my own $20.
Anyone else know of any free apps?

i use mac the ripper and use MPEG streamclip to convert VOBs to MOVs. they're free, and high quality

I was about to do my usual pimping of VisualHub here but it turns out the company that makes it shut its doors which makes me insanely sad.

Well turns out I am off the hook. We are going to get the high-res video files from the company we used to film instead of trying to pull off a DVD that is already compressed.
Thanks for the replies!

ffmpegx - open source transcoder, cross platform, free, but a little confusing at first.
