has anyone ever seen anything like this
    http://img410.imageshack.us/my.p…

as you can see the red being displayed appears different in each document, however the red is the same PMS. I've checked and double checked the color settings, color profile, pantone swatch..ect.

They were created on different machines though. Both in Illustrator CS2.

    any tips?

double click on the swatch and check the CMYK values match.

if they do then i'd guess your files are using different color profiles.

    • or one could be setup as a RGB document.horton

Look in the drop down menu in the Swatches palette for the Spot Colors options. These may be set differently within the two files.

ah yeah there's the "Spot Options" too... Lab vs CMYK... although i think that was introduced with CS3 (?).

if they are both the smae spot color, the end result should be the same when it's printed. I never trust any screen. I keep all my CD Cover designs I hae made and not the pantone/spot colors used and look at the flyer for reference. I have also had the same flyers printed by 2 differrent printers and came out with differences.

    • sorry just woke up, bad typing as ususal, hope you get my irrelevent point.187LockDown1/2
actually no a pantone swatch will print different if your Spot Options are set to Labhorton2/2
