xc is just taking the UFC leftovers.... arlovsky was pretty good.
xc i hear is in MAJOR financial trouble.
truth is, kimbo couldn't roll with the top guys right now..... no way. he'd get destroyed.
think fedor wouldn't steamroll over him?
but i do think his fight was stopped waaaaaaay too quickly.

I don't think the fight was stopped too quickly, kimbo had his arms out straight and had no idea what was going on when he was down, the fight was topped at the right time before he got seriously fucked up.
If Kimbo gets good training in defense attacking grappling basically the whole game then he would be something to worry about but right now no way he has nothing but intimidation on his side, I do believe he could be a great fighter but he has so much to learn and he is not a young man.

fact of the matter is, UFC guys are STILL pretty sub-par athletes. All of them.
Guy had ONE HOUR preperation when he was told he had to step in and fight Kimbo. Look how scared shitless he was - until he knocked him spark out.
UFC is still promoted like the off-shoot of WWF, they take away its legitimacy. Mostly tho, they dont attract proper athletes. Not in the caliber you get in boxing.
I respect the art, do MMA myself, but very few athletes, such as Muay Thai champs etc, cross over into multi-disciplines at their peaks,
Look to boxers for supreme fighting machine. The way they train, they way they build every skill scientifically so refined
I guess UFC still has a loooong way to mature before it produces any true greats.

I agree with most of what khurram is saying, a couple of guys are pretty well fit like bj penn, sean sherk, georges st pierre, randy couture, Rahsad evans, forest griffin and anderson silva. However lots and lots of them are really unfit and seem to be 'gassed' after the first five minute round.

yeah "one dimensional". But in saying that, you under appreciate the art of boxing.
But anyway, it's a moot point. I'm talking about fighting athletes as a standard. Ones who can take a hit, give a hit, work the ring, have the endurance, the tactics, the strategies, the "chess game" of fighting down to perfection.
As a fighting athlete of one man against another trying to knock each other out unconcsious.
UFC gets jacks of all trades, masters of none (except the BJJ guys, who pretty much invented the sport).

Look, boxers are well conditioned for WHAT they do - toe to toe punching for a whole bunch of rounds. And they're training has them do lots of cardio/roadwork - great. They are optimized for it. The conditioning of MMA guys is totally different - you need a different set of cardio/conditioning resources to punch/kick & grapple. Any athlete conditioned for one type of performance will gas out doing a different set of physical techniques. Sure in boxing they can go six seven rounds and still look fresh, but stick the same boxer in a ring and tell him to wrestle/grapple, he'll be gassed in three or four minutes - totally different physical optimization . So to simply say "boxers are supreme fighting machine" is false. Boxers are the supreme fighting machine in a round based competition allowing hand blows. Add in different criteria and that "supremecy" drops fast.
