Won't find a better solution...

Just noticed the mention of "free".
Shopify is not free, but well-worth every penny.
"Free" will lead you down a road of pure frustration—trust me.

I'm already over frustrated right now. just want something easy to set up and don't want to spend a dime.

Trying to go the free route limits you greatly.
Shopify is a great service. If you have less than 50 products, you'll pay approx $24/month, and that gives you everything you'll ever need...
Free often = unsupported, and sadly, often rubbish

What payment gateway or merchant accounts do you guys use?
Just wondering on prices and other expenses are needed for Shopify.

Has anyone had experience with http://businesscatalyst.com/ ?
They are a web host that offers fully integrated CMS, blogs, shopping carts, etc. They offer this as a blank, fully customizable solution to resellers.
The downside is they are in Australia..and I am in the US - but for a designer the backend features are impressive.

shopify looks nice - anyone use it integrated into their own website? Is it fairly easy to plug in and customize?

http://www.prestashop.com/ Looks interesting too...
I've been researching this a lot myself, word on Magento is that it's kinda slow at high volume on shared servers.
Downside to shopify is they take a cut, and you can't simply purchase it with or without support. It looks much better for small time retail stuff more than serious online retail.
If anyone knows of good payed solutions I'd love to see those too.
