Something like this kind of happened to me, I had noticed something suspicious in the raw file of an ad but figured people knew what they were doing. So I didn't say anything because it didn't come up on proof. However, it was printing wrong on press, so I told my boss I should have said something. If you have a good boss they'll appreciate the no bullshit thing and just being honest. In the ended had a meeting with everyone involved and talked on how to spot and take care of the problem. (Theres more than one person on a team, even if one ducks up or misses something, it happens even to the best.) Just don't let it happen again!

'we'll' chalk this up to experience, this is a new media to 'us', 'we' need better guidline checks etc.

Yeah I like it! Me & client team up vs media seller!
The thing is the media seller is already shoving blame with both hands as far away from themselves as possible, all the while using phrases like "now I don't want to accord blame here, but..." etcetera. They already blamed me AND the client for signing off. This is what you're dealing with. I made a printing mistake near 11 years ago when I forgot to proofread a mag ad. I got a bollicking but I fessed up and the boss was cool and appreciated the honesty. This here feels very different. This is pure politics, and it's way over my head, but i'm not going to lie there as they pass the vaseline around. If you make yourself an easy target that's all that will happen. This is a major thing when you're self employed, there's no boss to act as a buffer between you and the jerks. Still, at the end of it all, if it comes out OK it will be because I have always been upfront and hardworking with this client and they appreciate it. I'll keep y'all updated.- maybe you should get out of printing all togetyher =)CALLES

You're fucked young man. My advice to you is to start drinking heavily and... get out of advertising and design altogether. You'll sleep better. This is a nasty business.

@pmBell; I'm off to the pool to swim it off, had my fair share of single malt whisky this weekend and my lips are still peeling! Thanks everyone, just when I was losing faith in newstoday you really gave me good advice today

I am more concerned with the fact that your "@" symbol is located at the number 6 key position. Or do you knock off at 2:00 in Ireland?
- either it's a really bad joke, or you just didn't read the reply above that one.Jordy

I've only skimmed through all the broadcasts so I might have missed this. Have you considered taking the hit for the advertising costs yourself?? Saying "It's my fault, I'll pay for a re-print". You will need to weigh up the pros and cons first... e.g. would it swing it and enable you to keep the client? might be worth it if they are a very good client!! I had to do this a long time ago, and I kept the client becuase of it... it was only £200/$400 though!!!! Just a tohught anyway.
