Yup. This was awesome. But I wonder how long it took Rourke to have his prosthetic mask fitted every day before going on set?

"The eighties fucking ruled, man, until that pussy Cobain came and fucked it all up."
classic!

on the surface, i was pretty bummed about the ending... but like most of aronofsky's films, it took a few days for me to realize that's how it had to be.
what a great movie.

Loved it. I've started using the phrase "fresh as a monkey's breath" from the scene where he's working the deli counter.

well it was ok, Rourke did a good job of playing the part of a wrestler, kind of oafish and uncomplicated as you may expect. It was pretty cheesy and obvious and the final scene was... well.. LOLABLE.
fwiw I thought Requiem for a Dream was one of the worst films ever made.

Thought this was a very good film - very moving. I've always hated wrestling, but I can appreciate a story well told.

I dunno...a little cliche and formulaic story arc.
Acting was good, but casting pretty much took care of that. I don't think this was a stretch for Rourke, he basically is the part.
Camera work was fucking superb. Bar none.
Soundtrack spot on.

I've been a huge fan of wreslting for a long time. The film does a good job of showing what can happen when the spotlight stops shining. It also gives a realistic view of the backstage area... although I'm torn about them revealing so much.
The ending was a bit metaphoric, but yeah, I guess it had to end that way for how it was set up.
2 hours of depression, I loved it

Great film. Great acting. Deserving of any accolades it receives.
Many years ago I read an online bio of sorts of Jake the Snake, and it was a very sad story, with massive similarities to the personal life of The Ram in this film. I imagine there are probably dozens more just like it.
I for one welcome Mickey back into the industry, but it remains to be seen whether he can act as anyone that doesn't have a seriously mashed up face.
4.5 stars. 5 stars if they'd managed to put a CG clip of Andre the Giant in there :)
