Pros and Cons for moving to London from Toronto...
Pros.
- I already have dual citizenship
- More work to be had in my field
- better pay (I've heard anyway)
- I need a change / feeling bored hereCons.
- Giving up comfort and security at a job I like
- expensive. EXPENSIVE. in London
- Friends and Family are in Toronto
- I isn't Canada (a big one)I guess what I'm asking is have any of you made this move?..... and bottom line, was it worth it?

would be nice if you had a few interviews lined up before going to london.

there is lots of creative recruitment agencies. Its a good temporary move. Being an ex-pat that moved to western canada. Its always good to work elsewhere and get a feel for european design and london nuance's. You will learn alot. Make sure you get used to working in millimetres, and all your paper sizing is different.

I'm actually not a designer but a commercial photographer, and from what I've seen, there are so many more magazines for editorial work and agencies for commercial work than what we have in Toronto. I've been checking out creativepool.co.uk , because I'll definitely need a stable studio job to get me settled before I start freelancing in a new country.

hmm...can't you just have some agency represent you. that would cover the travel cost also.

London over Toronto any day - world city vs provincial town. London is a brutal, stimulating, ugly, exciting, tough, varied, exclusive, inclusive, brilliant place to be, but I have seen it destroy friends who moved here. I wouldn't live anywhere else.
But i wouldn't come over here on the off chance. It's an expensive place to be and work isn't easy to find at the moment. I don't know what kind of work you do but you can surely work for Canadian clients from London...

+1 what hans_glib says. My gf is from Montreal and no offence though we are looking to move to Canada I am in no mad rush to move to Toronto as it seems to have all the cons of a big city without having the massive benefits of London where you sort of smack in the middle of everything. If you can sort out work and a place short term to live before you get here then I say move amigo, though London is pretty shitty come winter though I guess its kinda worse where you are now. Call the toss.....Queens Head

London is beautyful. I worked with some London based client in the past, but unfortunately I wasn't allowed to move to London permanently. I found it very expensive, and had some problem with the language: since my english ain't perfect, I found really easier to visit New York than London. But that's not your problem, I think.
