Here's a more common sense democrat article on healthcare. Only 2 pages into its 6 so far. Got grab some morning brew. But this guy seems to be more of a critical thinker then just spouting the same over and over nonsense mantras that are fed by tv's new networks.
http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/2…
Doc this koolaids for you.
- That article had been discussed here weeks ago, go look it up.DrBombay
- It's a very good article.raf
- It is, but when it brings up HSA's I disagree with it entirely.DrBombay
- I dont know if i like the HSA becuase i believe responsibility to plan is withthe individual and should not be enforceddeathboy
- however he mentioned the ability to borrow from it like its a savings account, w/out penaltydeathboy
- if peopel are dub theyll still spend irresponsibly, but that is fine if theyre held responsible for it in time of emergencydeathboy
- i do agree in payign for services like all other goods. and only insuring against emergencies.deathboy
- a free market system of healthcare would be better. and since the current administration isnt idiotsdeathboy
- i cant help but question there motives in not trying such an approachdeathboy
- oh yea i apologize if its been here before, i saw the september 09 postdeathboy

OK, I'm just posting this in this thread because it's important. Otherwise I'm staying relatively clear of this thread. I don't want to get into moronic arguments about nazis, commies, death panels, and the danger the US president presents to school children with his words.
No, as of today one, ONE private company will now hold the monopoly on counting the majority of votes cast in every state and federal election. I don't give a flying fuck if you are republican, democrat, a raving Ron Paul or Kucinich supporter, this is utterly unacceptable. I don't care if you think that the 200 or 2004 or 2008 elections were stolen. This is not about partisanship, but rather the fundamental trust and integrity of our voting procedures.
Anyway, Elections Systems & Software Inc. purchased Diebold today for $5 million dollar, thus giving it control of over 50% of all voting machines in the country.
The very potential for maleficence and conflict of interest should preclude this being a lawful acquisition, let alone safety and oversight issues.

No, but go ahead and keep arguing about how the government kills your grandma or whatever shiny distraction the PR flacks and media throw at you thinking your discussing "politics". The oligarchy now has a price tag on every election in the country - $5million. A fucking bargain.
- Who cares,
do you really think your votes counts?GeorgesII - Fuck you. Seriously fuck you. I care. But attitudes like your is what kills us. So fuck you.TheBlueOne
- Keep your jaded world weary shit. There's a fight out here for your rights, but roll over and play dead eurotrash hipster fuck.TheBlueOne
- Your statement is exactly why I gave up thinking any of you yahoos are serious about this.TheBlueOne
- Sorry I wasted my time. Go back to your aliens and conspiracy shit fuckhead.TheBlueOne
- haha. i dont vote becuase people have no ideas what rights a government are to protect.deathboy
- and i wont be part of a illusion that uses one mob to take the rights from another under the guise ofdeathboy
- voluntary consent based on voting. but if i were to vote i guess id be worried of frauddeathboy
- Who cares,

"This acquisition is an opportunity to continue fulfilling our company's core mission of maintaining voter confidence, and enhancing the voting experience," said Aldo Tesi, ES&S's president and chief executive, in a written statement announcing the acquisition. "We are committed to meeting current and future needs for voting system solutions and services and providing better solutions to our customers."
Why is voting - a primary action in every democratic civil society handled by private companies who keep their technologies hidden behind non-disclosure agreements and patents?? They talk like they're selling fucking soap or a new mp3 player. "Enhancing the voting experience"? Give me a fucking break.
We are so far down the shitter. Sorry. Big giant cloud of unshakable despair hangs above my head.
- How the hell did Diebold's voting machine biz only sell for $5 million?DrBombay

THis is the best I have seen a senator or congressman do with their opposition to health care reform:
- haha he fielded it well. confused the hell out of the tv regurgitators. but was pretty hollow and only toucheddeathboy
- surfaces with no outcomes. but not bad fielding. he actually seemed to have given a tiny thoguht to itdeathboy
- That Chuck Grassley really gives a shit though, right?DrBombay
- whos chuck?deathboy

"I'll be danged if I am going to give up my Social Security because it's socialism."drgss - I think hes actually pro-reform
"We have the best healthcare in the world... if you can afford it. If not, you die."drgss - Bachmann is a fucken nut job.BusterBoy
- TheBlueOne0
3,000 turn up for a pro health care reform rally in Seattle. Press coverage? Zero.
Twenty crackpots show up screaming "Obamaz iz hitler, will kill babies!" and they dominate the news for two weeks, and every talking head on my teevee says very serious things like "Mr. Obama needs to meet these people half way."
Fuck that. Nuts to you.
- wow 3k crazyies demanding stuff as a right. which isnt. you cant impose costs on others for your failing to providedeathboy
- for yourself. u can ask for handouts at the cost of your pride/self esteem.deathboy
- but anyways a smaller number of nutjobs will command a bigger audience then a large group of nutjobsdeathboy
- easyier to connect with. think of it as reality tv. however im glad u brought up that their are far more nutjobsdeathboy
- for this so called reform then nutjobs expressign themselves poorly that are against itdeathboy
- demonstrates some roots of the problems in this nation. greed, wanting the unearned shit liek thatdeathboy
- at least the ceo takes advantage of the law. where these civilians want to rob and make it lawdeathboy
- which is a worthier foe. the outsmarting ceo guy/group/brokers or the virtueless beggarsdeathboy

what nothing on the whole van jones thing. beck. that sorta stuff. or the fact that resigned but is still part of the administration.

- sounds biased. his actions have spoken loud enough. the eco movement is BS anywaysdeathboy
- similiar to obamas push of corn fuel. make it an issue get tons of funding. n support for good intention.deathboy
- DrBombay0
I guess what we learned about the whole Van Jones thing is that if you are going to be radical and say batshit crazy things, you are better off being a republican where they embrace that shit.
- are u suggesting obama likes consult with batshit crazy saying fools?deathboy
- Nice grammarDrBombay
- way to answer the questiondeathboy
- way to form the question.DrBombay

The more I hear and read about the machinations going on in the US of A, the more I see a country ripe for major civil unrest. There just seems to be such a polarisation, much of it perpetuated by Fox and the looney right.
I mean, what's the shit trying to associate Obama's education message with the Hitler youth. I mean come on...the problem here is that the uneducated masses hear the names "Obama" and "Hitler" in the same sentence and suddenly Obama is a fucken Nazi. It is just crazy.
It's the same with the word "Socialism" being bandied about. It's all just bullshit and I'm not sure it's something the USA can recover from any time soon. From a distance it seems so ingrained in your society that I just can't imagine it changing.
Am I way off the mark here?
- Your right on the mark. If the economy continues to worsen and people get desperate your going to see some shit going down.JonnyPompa
- whoa the looney uneducated major tv coverage makes the objections seem crazydeathboy
- but not much coverage is given to educated objections. doesnt make good tv. but alot of the objections are justdeathboy
- bad logic, lack of criticla thinking skills, philosophy, and such has been ingrained into the society pretty deep.deathboy
- Even sycophants like newt gingrich are back-pedaling on the anti-speech stance.DrBombay
- locustsloth0
^ What killed me with this whole speech debacle was hearing on NPR that schools were getting hundreds of calls complaining about it... but they all said the same thing. THE SAME EXACT WORDS (more or less)! Like little fuckin' wind up toys that Hannity and Beck have toddle off to do their bidding.
When people can be that easily swayed, without ever questioning the info or researching it themselves (especially when the info is a google search away), it portends the beginning of the end of how we live our lives.

I think the top 1% of the world figured out that is they control public opinion in America they can pretty much impose their will on everyone. So they spend a lot of money influencing public opinion here, kind of like some guy in a small town buying off the town drunk.
