Donald Trump is not fit to be President of the United States. He does not possess the requisite intellect and does not understand the significance of the office he holds nor the tasks associated with it. He doesn't read. He doesn't bother to peruse important files and intelligence reports and knows little about the issues that he has identified as his priorities. His decisions are capricious and they are delivered in the form of tyrannical decrees.
He is a man free of morals. As has been demonstrated hundreds of times, he is a liar, a racist, and a cheat. I feel ashamed to use these words, as sharp and loud as they are. But if they apply to anyone, they apply to Trump. And one of the media's tasks is to continue telling things as they are: Trump has to be removed from the White House. Quickly. He is a danger to the world.

- Trump is actually the best thing that could ever happen to the presidency.
It will allow everyone to see what bullshit the whole political system is._niko - and hopefully create a will to burn it all down and start again, putting power back in the hands of the people._niko
- He may be the straw. Being forced out of world police duty would be an interesting change of pace.R_Kercz

Gianforte’s victory after assaulting reporter reflects rising tribalism in American politics
- But in all honesty 70% of the vote was already on early voting prior to the assault.Ramanisky2
- < I read it was 30% who early-voted. A lot prob sat it out after the incident. And a lot prob thought it was great. Seems like a culture war.mandomafioso

The Democrats Need a New Message
After another demoralizing loss to a monstrous candidate, Democrats need a reboot
This is a good story, and speaks to what PonyBoy was getting at, even if I still disagree with taking HRC's quote out of context.

- ... although the democrats are doing everything they can think of to try and overrule the voters... OMG RUSSIA!!! IMPEACH! IMPEACH!!PonyBoy

Trump's White House budget slashes program to fight violent extremism at home
The Department of Homeland Security’s CVE program gives grants to state, local and community organizations to help them “address the root causes of violent extremism” and prevent people from becoming radicalized both online and in the real world. As President George W. Bush put it in 2006 — the US needs a national security strategy that is “not just a battle of arms, but a battle of ideas.”
- It really does seem like they are making a concerted effort to just fuck America on every possible issue. It's amazing how thorough it's been.formed

'Jared Kushner discussed creating secret communications channel with Moscow – reports'
https://www.theguardian.com/us-n…
'Jared Kushner and Russia’s ambassador to Washington allegedly discussed setting up a secret communications channel to cloak contacts between Moscow and Donald Trump’s White House transition team, it was reported on Friday.'
- Let's set up a clandestine communications channel between the US and Russia using Russian equipment in a secure US location! What could go wrong!?face_melter
- So this predates the Seychelles backchannel meeting in January? This is an absolutely embarrassing clusterfuck of corruption and they need to get jailed.garbage
- allegedly or did?monospaced
- Well, for now, I suppose it's only an allegation until it's proved in court ... hopefully it gets to that point.Continuity
- #Make Russia Great Againutopian
- Why would it go to court? This is not illegal, and the backchannel wasn't set up. The US has had a backchannel with the Kremlin since 1964.IRNlun6
- Pres. Obama had a backchannel with the Iranians. It's used to prevent leaks.IRNlun6
- Did Obama keep that info from investigators, and lie about it to the media, to the intelligence agencies and the VP? I don't think so.monospaced

Jared Kushner’s Growing Stench of Treason
Nobody knows yet whether the president's son-in-law broke any laws. But "traitor" is more than just a legal term.
It’s time to talk about treason. We now know, according to U.S. officials briefed on intelligence reports cited by the Washington Post, that in early December 2016 Jared Kushner and Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak “discussed the possibility of setting up a secret and secure communications channel between Trump’s transition team and the Kremlin, using Russian diplomatic facilities, in an apparent move to shield their pre-inauguration discussions from monitoring.” At any time in the Cold War, what Kushner did would certainly have attracted the stigma of treachery. Should the same standard apply today? Let’s consider Kushner’s best defense. Backchannels are an accepted part of diplomatic relations.
