Does anyone know of a way to stop IllyCS3 from creating multiple beziér points on top of eachother when using the Outline Stroke command?
It’s killing me – KILLING ME!!!!!!
- MrOneHundred0
beziér points = anchor points
- menos0
what you mean? as you outline the stroke, it will have to create more anchor points in order to make the outline... no?
- janne760
i know what you mean..
they do it so that you will buy the upgrade.
- epete220
try live trace?
- janne760
for instance in letters,
you outline type,
want to grab an anchor,
and then there's another one
behind it.tis tits.
- janne760
google doesn't bring much, only this:
"Illustrator (I hate Illustrator! Bugs bugs bugs... double anchor points for example)... "
- janne760
maybe try a cleanup?
- menos0
^ never had this happen to me...
but still, if they aren't that many, you can always just delete them by hand (yes, pain in the butt, but still) or if it doesn't change the outcome, just leave them be!

try zooming in?

The problem is I need to then move the points around, so having 2 there really doubles my workload.
The closest I have come to fixing it is using the Simplify command with Tolerance set to 100.
There is no way I am paying for an upgrade to have this fixed.
- difficult to buy an upgrade that doesn't exist. unless we're talking metaphysical of course...airey
- The one that has just been announced. I doubt it will be free.MrOneHundred
- that aint an upgrade. it's called a 'version'. problem will probably be the same in both.airey
- Semantics. We just bought the CS3 “version” and the disc has the word “upgrade” on it, so...MrOneHundred

I think they is a "simplify" or "clean up" option under path which I think is under object. gary
- MrOneHundred0
Cleanup only gets rid of stray points, unpainted objects or empty text blocks. Simplify kind-of does it, but it moves the points around. My name is not gary.
- airey0
just typical crazy gary behaviour...

it's happened to me. at first i thought i had mistakenly duplicated a path but then i looked it up and sure enough, it's a bug.

use the pathfinder tool. remember to option-click as not doing so does it in preview mode.
found an article using a thing called google.
http://www.graphicartsonline.com…stop whinging you sad fuckers and look for solutions.
that is all.
- As you can see above I have been looking, hence the wording of my original post. First 6 words, or so.MrOneHundred
- airey0
and gary, take your meds...
- MrOneHundred0
Whaddayaknow, pathfinder works! Thanks, arsehole!
- airey0
by 'looking for solutions' what were you looking for? did you mention illustrator? were you using google or simply shouting to the heavens?
- Adobe forums, Google, this forum populated with, presumably, people who use it.MrOneHundred
- ...mentioned Illustrator CS3 on that topic title which you have clicked on now, at least twice.MrOneHundred
- ...but it’s all sorted, problem solved!MrOneHundred
- found using these oblique keywords: illustrator cs3 outline path duplicate pointsairey
