I think it was Apple neue, I remember a thread via EC: where a few people accusing him of putting up work that wasn't truly his, basically he had iPhone packaging featured and a few people couldn't grasp the concept that a designer employed by Apple might have created the packaging, and also some work he had done at Spin, Madethought and again the idea that he might have worked on projects that are so familiar through the frequency of time they are published, and then about mid way through the thread his site had been removed.
Shame!

It really pissed me off last time his stuff was up on here – the poor guy got a proper kicking for his hard-to-work-website, which is a bit short sighted.
He's a print designer, and has worked at companies most people on here only dream of working at, so why give him shit for his website?
Everyone wants to have a pop at someone.
Easy isn't it, sat behind your monitor artworking restaurant flyers, to have a go at someone who's got a bit of a profile.

Hang on Dave. I seem to remember no one was slagging of the site per say. More "It is a shame that the site is not as well thought out as his work". I also seem to remember that his site was done by someone else.
Also, is it so wrong for people to form an opinion. I thought everyone was in agreement that his work was outstanding but the site design did not hold up to it.

It gets me that as soon as someone says forms an opinion that is not "OMG it's amazing" they are branded "haters". It happened to a Build piece the other day. Someone said "hmmm not my bag" every jumped on him, pelted him with stones yelling "hater, hater, haterz".
I made a comment about Rob millingtons work the other day. It wasn't negative but I wasn't crawling up his arse – I am not a hater apparently....
Sorry dave this was no jibe at you, just a minor rant that I will get over.

Quite true Dancer – I can't find the original thread, but I can definitely remember a fair amount of nit picking.
And @ set – i don't think your distillation of 'your opinion isn't valid unless your work is better' is what I'm getting at.
I guess I just feel like people are happy to slate stuff they think isn't totally up to scratch......

i personally liked the overlapping of the site, made it stand out from other portfolio sites... the old saying 'you need to know the rules to break them etc.' ... think the people that didn't like it, possibly didn't get it

most people that contact me have a creative view on things... it is all about who you're trying to attract, rather than who you're trying to appease

pisses me off when people get attacked for doing something interesting with their site, when they say they should just show the work... I'm not a car designer, but i'd like a nice car

it is the same as wanting to be number 1 in google... who'd you rather have looking at your site, people in the industry that will use you for a project, or the plumber who has googled you...
I've had SEO people bore me to death in the pub before about how important it is

1. I loved his website
2. If he was involved in the projects he should be able to show the work / but he should explain what he really did.
3. this pisses me off, last year I worked for Dita van Teeste, Naomi Campbell, Mercedes, AMG, Bosch, and some more... and can I show the work? noooooo. thats not my problem, but why in the hell is the makeup artist allowed to mention it as a reference?

^ a freelancer of ours was just made to take his site down as he had put up a bunch of work without stating anywhere what his role was in the project (some design work) or what agency he was working for.
it was displayed in such a way as to infer he had completed it under his own name. he had also included work that was never approved by the clients and had edited trailer video of theirs.
we got utter shite from the client when they saw it.
