I work on a magazine, an issue every two months. The last issue I worked on I got this comment sent to me by the editor from a reader:
Print should be uncomproimisingly black on white.
So, PLEASE knock some common sense into your 'design' people!I tried to say 'Fuck off you pile of shitebags' as politely as I could.
- I think what irked me most was the way design was in inverted commas.ian
- ...I could picture the guy saying it while doing the fingers in the air thing.ian
- that's what you get for printig a big 'fuck you' in white on white.Jnr_Madison
- Erm, is the client you are thinking of commissioning me for perchance?Koopsy
- haha jnr. Nah, what I'd done was revolutionary, fucking seat of the pants design. I put white text... on a black background.ian
- ... er, yes. But it was the design I'd worked on, the client themselves really liked the spread, just one lone voice crying out in the dark.ian
- of dissent.ian
- what a bag of shit he is. you should get his email address from the editor. hunt hime down via the internet &jimzyk
- steal his dog.jimzyk

I had a client tell me that "one of their trained design people" had gone through the shitey brochure I'd done for them and found "some" "basic design flaws" then proceeded to list 2 completely subjective gripes, one of which made no sense unless they were talking fucking Breton or something.
Their "trianed" design guy was the in house guy who used to do the thing they came to us to have done more professionally.
my response:
"hmmm, these are subjective at best, I think the "trained designer" should retrieve his rattle and sit quietly in his pram, kthxbye"

I have just received this:
The image idea is simple (I hope). Picture of the town hall with a hand bursting through, Lottery-style. Kind of a 'it could be you'. The hand image is in istock October lightbox, and I have attached some new pics of the town hall, and I will be sending you some more in a mo. I was thinking the image could be kind of faded round the edges.
