I must say I'm no republican...but I really like the the McCain/Palin ballot. Maybe its just my love for seeing a strong tough family woman embrace leadership.

I just like that this ticket seems more of a substantive, rational, and deliberate choice (i.e., the better of two not-so-great choices), and less of an emotional, starry-eyed kid crush.

    • I'm not a Republican either, by the way.dog_opus1/5
      dogopus are you gay?Tark2/5
      or are you sarcastic?Tark3/5
Tark: No to the former, sometimes to the latter. Neither in this case. How about you? Gay? Sarcastic? Nothing wrong with either, though.dog_opus4/5

acecence, that was me and my wife's thought exactly. She had a high-needs child in April and went back to work three days later. What kind of mother does that?!?! Sounds like Dad's working for an oil company or off on a boat fishing, so who's with the baby? Those are not very good family values, in my mind.

She has a responsiblity to her office as well as family. What would one have her do resign?

    • not run for VP?acescence1/13
But this doesn't apply to Senator Obama? He has kids too. Jeez, what a silly point to argue.dog_opus2/13
he doesn't have an infant with down syndrome. it's kind of a full time job.acescence3/13
Being a parent period is a full-time job. You're looking for a spurious reason to criticize her. Of course, you'll find it.dog_opus4/13
so you admit it's a full-time job, which means there is some amount of neglect here, yet it's a spurious criticism?acescence5/13
oh, and i don't support obama either, and have plenty of criticism for him as well. but thanks for your assumptionsacescence6/13
Yeah, because everyone else has kids, dummy.lol This really isn't an issue. Not for fair-minded people, at least.dog_opus7/13
No offense intended, ascescence. No need to be indignant, my homey.dog_opus8/13
sorry didn't mean to come off that way. not an issue but i think it speaks to ones character to some degree.acescence9/13

I think it speaks to your naivete to expect too much character from politicians! (just kidding, but you know...)dog_opus11/13

there is also the rumor that the youngest child is actually her 16 year old daughter's. apparently she had been absent from school for months with what they claim was an extended case of mono. Palin announced she was 7 months pregnant, and everyone was shocked, no one could tell. all rumors of course, haha.

Well a thought that ran through my mind once more stuff started coming out about her was (put on your conspiracy theory hats):
he picked her because she would attract the most attention (away from Obama), but knowing that once the press got ahold of her, he'd have to choose someone else. Then he could say, "well, i wanted a woman for the job but all the Democrats and the media didn't want her, so here's my friend Mitt Romey"

Apparently McCain really wanted Lieberman but pulled back at the last minute. Amazingly, he didn't pick her until last night, while Obama was giving his speech.

    http://blogs.abcnews.com/politic…

    • Karl Rove asked Lieberman to bow out. i can imagine he talked to McCain toolocustsloth1/6
I don't even see any unnamed sources for this piece, let alone reliable ones!dog_opus2/6
Not that it's untrue, but it's hearsay at best in this article.dog_opus3/6

Most of my family has dedicated there life to public service...this is a great sacrifice. This is why I can understand from her perspective. How many soldiers are not home to see the birth of their children. Does this make them bad parents? Public Servants allow and "fight" for freedoms...for the "people" all the while sacrificing so much...sometimes even the ultimate their life.

    • True, I don't blame her for that at all....her policies are what's wrong with herukit

Awww..... really, shes a strong family woman with values how sweet. Duh the majority of mothers have strong family values. My mom was a strong woman and im sure 90% of your mothers were as well. But I guess democrats are evil and eat there mothers soon after birth, so they arent able to get family values instilled in them

You all proved my point, he only chose her b/c shes a woman and he wants the so called "hillary" vote. But it'll all balance out in the end some people will like McCain/Palin just b/c Palin's a woman even though she led over more mooses(or.....meese.... or whatever the plural of moose is) than people in Alaska. and Obama is worshipped by blacks even though 75% of us couldnt tell 5 specific things that are on his agenda.
So this is going to be a tuff race now that all comes down the the important demographic of "I don't care about actual issues I just want someone who looks like me" voter.

    • The plural is "moosen".
"Look at that roving flock of moosen."
      See, it's moosen.

i like her cause she looks like Tina Fey and Tina Fey supports Hillary and Hillary is a woman, and Palin is a woman. Bill Clinton had sex with a woman who was an intern. so now I vote for Palin.

    Palin for President.
