is this really considered a logo redesign?
technically it's just a glossy version of their current logo.
in the passed when I've done logos for clients, I've always included several different treatments in order to depict how the logo will appear in different given environments. eg. on stationary, invoices, partner netwroks where it may need to be reversed out to black or white depending on the background colour, or online.
so technically this isn't really a new logo, just a visual treatment on the current logo... not revolting, but then not ground breaking either. it just is.

Maybe they are trying to confuse the Dell customers into buying their computers. The commercial and the product are both wicked though. It's like the Iphone and HP secretly slept together and had a baby.
I think they went over budget on their commercial and only had $99 left so they hired an overseas logo designer.

If a company wants to really stand out they would just make no logo. Laptops and logos are pointless. the apple logo on the back or dell etc. this takes away from me being able to put stickers on the back and it's just pointless everything from a name to a logo just make the laptop that simple and clean
