So I'm doing a photoshoot for the marketing of a new TV show we're producing. It's in the bronx, full day, pretty big deal. I've never been to NY before, I know adorama and bh is out there but have no experience with them whatsoever. In LA I rent from Samys. Our budget is miniscule (2k) but I've worked with smaller before. Any gear rental recommendations? Know anyone I could get some sort of deal from? I'm not lookin for handouts, just trying to get knowledge from the NY experts.

Probably could use a 1ds, don't need a digi-back. Going to need some strobes, flags, white solid bg, black solid bg, little bs that goes along like power cords sand bags etc. Oh and it's a couple weeks away on Saturday Sept 12.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

2k is not much for rental in NYC, sounds like it might be worth renting from LA and checking in at the airport vs. the enormous hassle it will be to run around picking up at rentals.

    • That's what I was afraid of. I mean I have gear myself, I was just trying to avoid traveling with it.JG_LB

Another thing is that we might have to shoot in two locations. What's a good van rental place?

so one i was working with amateur director/producer. I mean the guy was a total amateur and soon i realized that it was a waste of my time. So a friend of mine who somehow started working with him told me a story that they had a photo shoot with this Boston rapper in a rough part of the Bronx and probably because the rapper was wearing Red Sox shirt they robbed them at gun point -- camera, lights and everything. The guy was such amateur i wasn't surprised.
