Hi,
I designed something in Illustrator and now i need to import it to InDesign. Is there a way to do this? Its about 15 pages (layers) in illustrator and I have also saved it out as a multiple page pdf.Is there a way to import each layer to a separate page in InDesign?
Thanks
Ev

Is there a plugin for indesign that will do this or anything?
I cant believe this isnt easier...I have jpgs in this illusrator file aswell so this eps thing is not working.....

Are your jpgs linked or embedded?

Or, alternately, you could export them as TIFF files and then import those into InDesign.

Thanks but its not for print....its a wireframe for a website and for some reason it matters that I design it in indesign...I prefer illustrator...I actually hate indesign....its only 20 pages...cheers for the smart arse comments though...im sure all of youse are well superior to me...nothing like getting online and acting the cunt when someone asks for a bit of help eh :)

aha. ok, what you could do is flatten each layer and save as a sep file. then open it in photoshop - this will save any errors with jpgs / colour etc and then save these as psd/tif/whatever and import into indesign. you'll at least have manageable files and error free print / supply.
- unless they're meant to be editable in indesign obviouslyairey

'more options' when you import the image, than you can select the right layer...just by flicking on and off the visibility...

You can place Illustrator files directly in InDesign, but you'll still have to re-save each layer as a separate file. Obviously they'll preview all wonky but if your colour settings are consistent for the whole suite, you should have no colour problems.
Placed Photoshop files in InDesign can have their layers turned on and off directly in InDesign, but not Illustrator files unfortunately.

save as an EPS, open a graphic box in InDesign and import the graphic, resize and position until the cows come home...

Sorry, but there is no easy way to transfer a file from Illustrator into Indesign. Illustrator holds text differently than the frames in Indesign, also in Illustrator you don't need a frame to hold text, but in Indesign you do need.
The main issue here is for you to tell your boss or owner of this project that they need to educate themselves because transferring files to Indesign in absolutely inefficient.
The best thing to do is to keep the files in Illustrator, and send PDFs or create a PDF book of the project, so that they can view it the way they want.
