Quite convincing CG FX here:
i am eagerly awaiting the exploitations of this fine technology. In the future every tv-newscaster on the planet will look Mélissa Theuriau, i guess.

Doesn't look realistic.

i'd hit it

I agree, it doesn't look realistic. I think even once they can make something look exactly like a human, it's the movement that always gives it away.

creepy, her face was rolling all over her skull like jabba the hutt.

I agree with what she says towards the end.

Emily is F-in annoying

It doesn't help that the acting/performance of whoever was cast to do this initally was poor and very unnatural. Techically I'd saw it was spot on, but didn't seem entirely real because of the source.
- Are you saying they need to up the polygon count?designbot
- no, it was badly scripted and very pooly delivered by whomever was being 'recorded'mikotondria3

Am I missing something here? That was some video footage of a girl talking and right at the end there they whacked some third rate AdobeAfter Effects filters over it and masked it, really really badly, over here face.
I don't do moving image work... Am I missing soemthing amazing in this movie? Like the girl isn't even there at all, or is an animatronic or something?

sweet!

It's fake the whole time, then they break down the layers at the end.

looks very stepford wives but way worse. Her chin blends into your cheek and neck or her cheek blends into your neck and chin

well, they rendered something that looked just like her face onto her face. like a cg makeup. for a still that wouldn´t be remarkable, i liked how the synched it, never seen it before this good. they had me completely going.

I get that the whole face is supposedly animated all the way through, but its only a re-animation of exactly what the actor's face was doing in the first place... ie, its not enabling a realistic CGI face to do what they want with, its just like painting over what's already there, in After Effects. I just don't get why that would be any use to anyone... just use the fucking actress if she's got to do the whole thing first anyway.
I don't know, maybe I'm missing something. I'm a simple country boy with simple country tastes.

Spooky...Throughout the video she has a cg face that was traced from a video of her - when you get to the AE filter bits they're simply doing the 'ta-da' 'We're showing you that her face was all cg...and we didn't need markers to capture it - if that makes sense
- oops - sorrybabaganush
- Hahah. I love how QBN's timing can do this so frequently!Spookyhome

God I miss the days when a nice six colour atypical format brochure on an exotic Japanese paperstock was the goal.

I guess it may be for virtual environments or cg stuff where presumably you can easily capture expressions and apply them to a character even if you don't have sophisticated capture methods - i agree they could have thought out the example better...May even be cool for Heath Ledger type replacement shots for deceased actors etc.
