Is the type for 'salut' and 'bonjour' as seen on Johnny Yanok's website handmade or actual fonts? If they are actual fonts, where might I find them?? Any ideas?

true. it does smell like house industries.
the 'HALLO" word is in fact from house industries, just can't remember the name right now.

Yup, most of it is House (the Roman characters), the rest is handmade to fit the style.

hey robin how do you tell a given "font" is a "font" and not hand-drawn?

I've said this so many times on this site, but people really should try drawing custom type themselves instead of wasting the same amount of time searching for and purchasing type. The practice is beneficial to you as a designer and the client who ends up getting something more unique.
