Studio Tonne has created a unique set of outdoor furniture for Imperial College, London. Following on from their previous brief to create walkway art and signage in the area, the multi-talented design studio were asked to produce a sculptural seating area that could occupy the courtyard at the Imperial College headquarters. Studio Tonne proposed to break up the usually barren, minimalist area with large, colourful geometric shapes, creating sculptures as seats which can be positioned to become focal points themselves. The final shapes were produced in high gloss glass reinforced plastic, using vibrant blues and greens to play off the the distinctively coloured buildings which surround the area, adding a touch of magic to the otherwise grey urban space.
