er... bear with me - is there any kind of 'spray' or 'stuff' I can apply to materials to make them ink-jet print compatible?

Say I have a sheet of plastic, and want to print on it somewhere, I'd like to add 'something' to it, so that when I stick it through the printer, the ink sticks like paper and doesn't run.

There must be something, either an official product, or a bodge - as you can get that shit to print on, to iron onto T-shirts, which is kind of the same deal..

Don't think so but would like to find out. We use an HP6100Z which requires a "universal" coating and has drastically reduced the number of substrates we can use. Kickass printer though!

if it's a DIY job and you're up for some experiments i might suggest giving this a try, worth a shot:

    Mockups for projects.

I'm currently printing on an awkward material, then over-painting in white, then want to print on top of that - it's the white bit I'm having problem getting the printer ink to adhere to.

I'll have a dig around for the krylon product above, but if anyone in the UK knows of a similar product, I'd appreciate it.

You could possibly print on a 'contact' type film material, like safmat, and then lay that down over what you are working on.

    • *squints* Yup. That'd definitely work. Dang. Why couldn't you have told me about that stuff 7 years ago?detritus
