    Hiya QBNers,

There is hope for me after all. I just accepted a low-paying freelance gig. I will be leaving the comforts of doing better paying work to crank out production on fekkin quark. The sacrifice is worth the opportunity. I'm so giddy I'm even dumb enough to post this on the internets. Thanks for your support muchachos y muchachas!

I wasn't aware you were sick of your job. But congrats on your low-paying gig.

i wasn't completely unhappy with my current position. i am treated well, and my coworkers like me. but i applied to a position a few months ago to this agency, but didn't get the salaried position. they contacted me on this new one so i felt pretty good about it. hopefully at the new gig i'll be working with great designers and maybe can meet a mentor.

I don't understand.... you're leaving a better paying job in order to crank out low-paying quark production?

i hear many designers, tired of the hassle of creative life, are moving into production work

    • Production is degrading.monospaced1/2
it can be if you let the ego get too involved. it's good for beginners late in the game.jaylarson2/2

i mostly have production experience anyway. and this is a great opportunity to improve my design skills, develop connections, and maybe have an in to be employed by an agency rather than the staffing company i currently work for. it's risky, but i'd hate to look back on this and say woulda coulda shoulda.

maybe now i'll be able to go more freelance too.

Good luck Jay. I think everyone is just concerned about you being taking advantage of, by what seems like a step backwards. But I think you the right attitude.

the position post listed as entry level. something i am not. i lack studio experience. even though it is risky, it has potential to pay off. thanks for the effort from those that have posted here.
