Interesting - here at the office, we just got an email saying that all UK companies are required to keep all copies of all non-UK passports (EU/visas, etc...) in FULL and that audits are now being regularly undertaken each year.
Were they always this strict? I can't remember when any of my employers over here were so cautious about visas/passports.

i know that *everyone* across all of the agencies in our group (600+) had to bring in their passports last year to be photocopied. that's eu and uk citizens, too. and now all new starters must bring theirs in before they even start their first day.
