Wondering which on is best for making a personal photo book. I've heard Apples quality (the book ordering through iPhoto) is crap but that was some time ago, maybe they've gotten better. Haven't heard any quality comments about LuLu or Blurb so I'm curious.

apple puts their logo on the back, so I wouldn't consider it

How about viovio.com as well? Anyone used them?

You can elect to not have the Apple logo on the back of the book. I just printed a book with them and the quality was ok...not great but it was fine for what I needed.
- no, that's why I wouldn't consider it.Meeklo
- oh wait..
you can remove the logo you mean?Meeklo - I had to read this 4 times in order to get it.. hahahaMeeklo
- yes, you can remove. there is a link in the application which you click or declick to remove. :)monkeyshine
- Do you declick to elect to remove, or do you click to decline to elect to not remove? I'm confused.boobs

Don't you think all of these print on demand places are essentially using the same equipment? Do you really think quality varies that much?

Bought this book from Blurb, and it shipped the other day.. will post when it comes in ...

blurb for me. wee wee

do you have to use blurb's software, or can you provide a pdf?
- monospaced0
blurb lets you create a book from your own pdf pages if you'd like, and a miniscule fee to get rid of their branding. These print on demand services are great for students looking for something a little different when looking for work.

This one's in Toronto but the quality is great, maybe you can get it shipped. http://pikto.com/books/ they have there own layout software but it's pretty flexible.

yeah this is all great but you can't choose paper stocks or proof the job...it's always a shot in the dark.

My mom had an apple book printed, and one printed from lulu.com Apple had Great results, better than lulu's. Ive seen some from blurb, and The results were pretty horrid, but I dont know if the author used any color management at all.
Im looking to print one soon. Ill let you know how it goes.

Seriously now, does anyone with experience (prferably BLURB) knows this? I don't know if their customer service reps will know this...

OS- I am putting a couple of books together now, and have been reviewing books from each service for my blog (not to plug it...) asking the authors what they liked/didn't like.. I also have about 6 books on my desk now that were sent to review.. I am gonna go with White House, and may also send the same book to lulu to see the differences... I want to end up with a good size step by step review for the blog..
My wife had a few from white house done, and we liked the print quality... --> I did review "Instant Asshole" which was a blurb book, and it looked good overall, but the images were a little too muted for me..
