How do I properly cite a painting I'm only showing a small part of?
is it:
detail, "painting title", media, 00" x 00"
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,

What style? Or is it informal?

It's formal.

title (detail), artist, year, media, size

For example, MLA style would be:
A Painting, Sculpture, or Photograph (original print on display)
1. Works Cited Citation format:
Name of Creator. Title. Name of Museum or Place of Presentation, City.
2. Works Cited Citation example:
Da Vinci, Leonardo. Mona Lisa. Louvre, Paris.
3. In-text citation format:
(Last Name)
4. In-text citation example:
(Da Vinci)
- But you could probably add on extra information to the end, such as size.Jaline
- I don't think it matters too much, as long as you are consistent.Jaline
- MLA is pretty strictpencilpants
- It depends on the institution or professor you have, so it has to do with academics more than anything else.Jaline
