Ok, so I decided to give this a try, I rented a movie, and I was like, ok just download them to my ipod video and watch them on the tv.

Awesome, I payed for the rental, downloaded the movie, made some pop corn..

I can't transfer the movie to my ipod.
I don't want to watch it on the laptop, I have a 42' tv hanging on the wall, I want to watch it there, from my ipod, I don't want buy an apple tv.

    Any ideas?

    DVI-HDMI cable from Radioshack.

    • If you can wait, get one off eBay, you'll save 90% on RS prices.5timuli

Oh, and you'll need a mini-y adapter or optical audio cable too.

that would be once I can transfer the file to my ipod.

I see the file on itunes, it won't sync up with my ipod, I tried dragging, updating both (ipod firmware and itunes software) still no luck.

    • Just connect the DVI-HDMI and Mini-Y from laptop to TV then watch fullscreen in iTunes. Et voila.

      That's what I do.

I already watched movies from my ipod, on to my tv. just so you know (I should have said this earlier) its MOVIE RENTALS what I'm having problems with. They won't sync up.

    • Just download a torrent instead (for free) ;)5timuli1/2

At the risk of starting a flame-on, this is a bit like saying Pioneer suck because my old DVD player doesn’t play Blu-Ray discs.

I was ref. to the ipod video 1st gen. I was not comparing 1st gen ipods but rather ipods that could play videos.
