My itunes has been a bitch. Everytime I restart the program, it wouldn't show the songs that I imported ever since a certain day. It seems like it's not saving any activities/imports that I've been doing.
I just made a playlist with 100 songs in it and now its gone!!!
Has anyone had this problem? is there a way to retrieve that playlist at least?
thanks in advance.

sounds like the library.xml is getting lost... where's your itunes music folder?

you are not, by chance, trying to save yourself from having to kiss your mother when she is in high school, and disappearing right before your very eyes, are you?

if your itunes prefs are pointing to the correct library folder on the external then i bow out of help mode.. i keep my itunes folder on my OSX drive and manage my own ext files.
does do you see a quick "saving library" message when you quit itunes?
maybe a permissions issue on the external? is it new? try a get info and external and set "ignore permissions".
- i need a proofreader for my QBN posts, anyone need a job?horton

I would investigate why you have a large number of tmp files in the folder on the screenshot that is not right. Also, in my opinion, you should keep all your music files on the external drive but the actual iTunes library on your internal HD.

it doesn't prompt a save library when i quit. it never has, and it has always been fine.
ive been using the x-hd for about a year and this maybe happened once but not as bad as it is now...
thanks for the help though.
- no a prompt for save library.. you just sometimes see a little progress bar if your library is sizeable.horton

I remember reading the tmp files might be caused by podcasts which fail to download, so that's something to check, then check google.

there's also 2 library.xml's which ain't right... should be the "... Music Lirary" i believe.
