i am looking to buy an apple laptop. i am not up on all the mac rumors and stuff so i just wanted to know from some of you if now is a stupid time to buy a laptop (ie, some new awesome one is about to come out?)

i am looking for a laptop cuz ill be doing a fair bit of travelling coming up - mainly use it for storing photos from photo shoots and a bit of graphic work (not too concerned about video) so can i get away with a macbook instead of a macbook pro?

i just want the smallest screen/cheapest apple laptop that will do the trick.

any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

    thanks guys

neutral time to buy, if you need something right now i'd go for it or maybe consider a used deal to get you by while the new designs get some mileage on the market.

Fortunately for me, I'm characteristically broke, so I won't be able to afford a new Mac until at least the second half of the winter.

To answer your question, handsomeboy, I defer to horton. My experience with Apple is that their computers last forever; even when you think it should be obsolete, your machine is still pumping out huge HDR and Illustrator files, maybe with some added RAM.

    • you guys are confused, i said "i'd go for it"... or maybe consider used (if $ is an issue).horton

So true. You're dealing with all the crap the other guy left on there. A good substitute would be an Apple Certified Refurb. You can probably save a few hundred bucks and get fresh guts in a used mac.

supposedly they are cutting the prices across the board on their entire line. If you can wait a couple months I would.

You can never really stay on top of Apple. Seriously– you can wait all summer for the November product releases, but come November you'll want to wait until January Macworld rolls around... then there's the June improvements & revisions. Getting a MacBook now will probably do you just great I think.

yeah dude, dont go buying anything from Apple at the moment.
ive heard that times are hard for them and they may go under due to the poor interest around the world for their newly launched product "The iPhone" that they have invested millions and millions on.

Don't buy a laptop just yet, unless you are desperate.

There are lots of rumours flying around at the moment about new laptops/new laptop designs/aluminium cases for Macbooks etc.

Also, Apple have been quoted as saying "profits margins are set to decrease" in relation to them possibly releasing new products or dropping prices of existing products.

A new product is rumoured to be a 'sub notebook' (read: smaller laptop). Price cuts speak for themselves.

got the refurb'd macbook today loving it. thanks for the advice, really happy with the purchase, it will be hard to justify buying a brand new product now - these really are mint condition
