    and probably a stupid one.

Once I've made a Master page and then duplicated that master page like 80 times

HOW can I make it so that I can edit 1 item on each of the 80 versions...they all have to be slightly different. Yet it seems like once I make a master page those elements are all locked once I jump back to my pages.

In Quark ...just becaus eyou set up a document in a master page...you could still edit those master page items in the document.

I'm SURE InDesign can do this...but I'm starting to lose my hair trying to find it.

    Any help?

Shift+Ctrl click on the item to bring it to the page level to edit it.

    • Cool!
Is there a quick way to unlock all items on all pages?

Don't use a Master Page if you don't want the items locked down.monospaced2/2

Why the hell would you need 80 Master Pages?
The entire purpose OF a Master Page is that the items on it are locked into place. Change something on the Master, and every Page associated with it is updated with the change. They remain separate for your convenience, just like Quark.

    • I put a dummy text frame in my master pages so its always in the right place when I shift click it. Just easier for me.ninjasavant1/2

I think he means he applied it to 80 pages.

In response to your question, not that I'm aware of. You could try creating the editable content on an actual page, copy it, and paste it in place on subsequent pages.

    • I believe if you control click on the page you want to edit you can "release" it from the master page and edit everythingrodzilla1/2

    eactly ninja

I don;t need 80 master pages...but 80 pages with the master page elements...but I need to be able to change one element on each of the pages...but keep it in the same location.

and I want to use master pages...so i don't have to copy and paste the damn thing 80 times.
